"Le Timbalie", or French for one that plays the timpani instrument or kettle drum was originally designed in 1961 and consists of three re-issues in 2001, 2010 and 2011. Handcrafted in France to the highest luxury standards, Hermès scarves are true wearable pieces of art that take 18 months to create from start to finish with over 750 artisan hours into each scarf design. This extremely popular and highly sought after design was made by chairman of legendary Hermès designer, Marie-Françoise Héron who was responsible for many iconic designs such as "Brides Legeres" and "Passementerie". Originally issued in 1961, the design of the "Timbalier" was inspired by the role of the "Tempanist" who was delegated the task of playing the drum for the French calvary.
