Hermès Limited Edition Vintage Tri-Color Vert Fonce, Rouge H & Indigo Box Calf Kelly Bag with Gold Hardware 28, 1993. Originally introduced in the early 1930's as the Sac à dépêches bag, the Kelly became world renowned after Grace Kelly, Princess of Monaco appeared on the cover of Life magazine, shielding her baby bump from the paparazzi with a Kelly. Over the years, the Kelly became a classic closet staple, with over 24 hours of hand craftsmanship into each bag made in a variety of colors, leathers and finishes.
During the early 1990's Hermès began exploring the idea of mixing different leathers and colors and released a limited edition run of the Kelly and Birkin in it's most iconic colorations. This exceptionally rare and sought after limited edition Kelly was hand crafted in France from premium chevre and box calf leathers in Vert Fonce, Indigo and the iconic and highly collectible "Rouge Hermès" or Rouge H. Sellier rigid structure is adorned with 18K gold plated hardware and comes complete with crossbody strap in indigo as well as a Kelly sport strap in Rouge H. This Kelly also has a date stamp of “W” in square for the year made (1993) and also has a small "21L" stamp that indicates the section of the Paris atelier where the bag was constructed. The matching detachable strap allows plenty of versatility for the bag to be worn as a top handle, shoulder or crossbody. Also comes with the tirette, clochette, box for bag, box for strap and original velvet dust bag. In great vintage condition with wear and slight scratching to hardware and feet, small imprints to bottom of bag and light wear to Chevre interior. Full specifications and condition listed below:
