Extremely Rare Hermès Vintage Automobile Valise Suitcase Travel Luggage, circa 1972. Originally introduced in the Early 20th Century by grandson Émile-Maurice Hermès, Hermes luggage was an early contender for travel wear amongst the worlds elite market. With the success of the brands hand stitched saddle wear, the natural progression to luxury luggage coupled with the rise of the use of the automobile resulted in instant success. This highly sought after piece of Hermès history was handcrafted in France in 1972 to the highest luxury standards and is constructed from a supple gold saddle calfskin and canvas material exterior. Adorned with two signature "H" brass snap closure locks baring the iconic "Hermes Paris" engraving to underside as well as a flip push closure lock. This suitcase also has a date stamp of “B” in circle for the year made (1972) located above left lock, small "B 6" heat stamp that indicates the section of the Paris atelier where the suitcase was constructed and initial engraving of "CPD" to underside of front carrier handle. Luggage opens to a beige cloth lined interior with three accordion slip pockets, two adjustable leather straps and plenty of internal storage. Also comes with the hanging luggage tag.
