George Jones Majolica Cheese Bell and Stand, the dome with green-glazed leaves, ferns, and flowering grasses, on a bark-textured turquoise ground, the top banded with shells and acanthus leaves, a coiled, smiling snake among palms and ferns forming the handle, the interior glazed in pink, the stand with matching band of shells and acanthus leaves, the reverse with typical George Jones tortoiseshell mottling with painted design number in the thumbprint reserve, '2586a' which corresponds to the entry '[Palissy] Stilton Cheese Stand Turq. gr.' in the George Jones Majolica Pattern Numbers Books preserved in the Wedgwood Archives and partially listed in Bergesen.*

This design is documented in the Karmason Library of the Majolica International Society, Number KL001383 with the rarity designation: "Very Rare."
