Minton Majolica Cabinet Plate, with a central medieval design in émail-ombrant, a difficult technique achieved by flooding majolica glazes over an intaglio design, causing the impressed cavities to appear as shadows of various depths; bordered with alternating relief-molded putti, raised oval panels mottled in blues and ochre, and stylized sunflowers, with extensive molded strapwork in a quatrefoil and eye design, the mottled reverse with impressed marks, 'MINTON,' and Minton date cypher for 1867.

This design is documented in the Karmason Library of the Majolica International Society, Number KL001691 with the designation 'Very Rare.' For thirty years we have been among the preeminent specialists in fine antique majolica.
