A Wedgwood Majolica Pheasants Game Cabinet Plate, English, 1877, Designed for Wedgwood by General Henry Hope Crealock (British 1831--1891), the central scene depicting a transfer printed and hand-embellished pair of pheasants in a woodland setting, the outer reticulated and jeweled edge formed as looping wicker, molded with a spade design with a central email embrant stylized leaf design, the pooled cobalt glaze reminiscent of sapphires, the reverse glazed in cobalt and green mottled tortoiseshell with impressed marks, WEDGWOOD and three-letter date code for April 1877.
