Canton Famille Rose Mandarin pattern shaped vase, the waisted neck with a castellated or linen fold neck and rim, the interior rim decorated with four iron red and gilded bats, the neck and shoulders with applied paired confronting Foo lions and cubs forming the handles, the polychrome decorated body with alternating court pavilion scenes bordered by blue dragons chasing the flaming pearl, with roundels and fan-shaped reserves, depicting bats, dragons, fish, butterflies, fruit, and floral sprays, with precious objects interspersed throughout, on an all-over ground of green enamel and gilded tendrils border, ca. 1840.
