George Jones Majolica Turquoise Shells and Seaweed Sardine Box, English, ca. 1867, the box molded in high relief with a salmon on each of the four sides, each corner with molded coral forming the raised feet, the lid with a naturalistic conch shell, surmounted with a shell forming the knop, the reverse with impressed 'GJ' monogram encircled, with painted design number '1848,' which corresponds to the entry, 'Shell Sardine Box,' in the George Jones Majolica Pattern Books preserved in the Victoria and Albert Museum, Wedgwood Collection, Barlaston, UK.*
